Experience Cohousing at Springhill 21st - 23rd June 2013

A weekend for those of you who want to find out more about what it's really like to live in cohousing.

  • Cook with us
  • Eat with us
  • Work with us
  • Chat with us
  • Stay with us
  • Enjoy with us

Springhill Cohousing is now nearly 10 years old.  We are a short walk from the town centre of Stroud, which holds a thriving weekly Saturday Farmers' Market.

If you want to join in with cooking the communal evening meal on Friday, the weekend starts at 4p.m. otherwise aim to be with us as near to 7p.m. as you can when we eat a vegetarian meal together in the common house. We will have a social activity if you wish to join us after supper.

On Saturday afternoon there will be a guided tour and talk with tea and cakes. In the evening we will have a slide show and a chance to ask more nitty gritty detail about setting up and running a cohousing community like ours and to have a sociable time with us and each other.

Sunday is one of our 'communal workdays'. It is a good opportunity to chat with people as we work together. There are always plenty of breaks and food to nourish us and of course you are free to do as little or as much as you wish to. The work can be as light or as heavy as you fancy, either inside or out. We finish at 4p.m.

To cover costs we ask each of you for a minimum contribution of £50 (students/benefits) or £75 (waged) for 2 night's bed and breakfast in one of our homes. This includes meals and activities except the Saturday evening bring and share and Saturday lunch which you might like to have in Stroud. You will have opportunity on Saturday morning to pop to the Farmers' Market should you wish to bring something to the evening meal to share.

We are expecting this to be of interest to people who want to just test the water with cohousing, and those who are intending to set up a cohousing community or are in the early stages of the process already. It will also be of interest to students who are looking at any aspect of cohousing. You may not fit any of the above and be wondering if this weekend is for you. Get in touch and we can discuss it with you. For a booking form please contact us.
